BROOKHAVEN Forum
Brookhaven Forum is a place where historic Christian faith is welcomed and integrated into the study of psychodynamic thought. It is our desire to provide a warm and safe environment for people of like mind to dialogue regarding the compatibility of this orientation with their faith. In this atmosphere of fellowship we hope to encourage one another.
HOFFMAN STUDY GROUPS
Each year Drs. Lowell and Marie Hoffman offer an in-depth examination of some area of psychodynamic thought that is available via study group participation on a monthly basis. In the first year, seminal papers in psychoanalysis that spanned all of the major orientations were studied. Our desire was to develop knowledge, but also discern how those papers diverged or paralleled basic Christian truths.
In our second year, we will be examining a prominent contemporary psychoanalytic book just recently published. Combined with a reading of the text for each session, we will study the classic psychoanalytic papers that form the foundation of the chapter ideas. Our ultimate desire is, again, to gain knowledge of the authors’ ideas as well as how the thinking and practices converge or diverge from Christian truths.
If you desire to become a participant in these study groups, please contact Drs. Lowell or Marie Hoffman.
